  1. Tested: Terramar Microlight Sleeveless Base Layer

    Coachlevi.com &bull Jul 19, 2010

During my baselayer addiction/buying phase last summer, I got this Terramar Microlight Sleeveless Base Layer from Nashbar. I've been faithfully using Terramar's clothing (mostly base layers) for many years since I love their stuff. I got a size small, but… Full Story »

  2. Tested: JerseyBin

    Coachlevi.com &bull Jul 15, 2010

I've been dealing with a little problem ever since I started road cycling. Chances are, you've been dealing with it, too. I'm talking about carrying stuff in your jersey pockets. You can stick your cell phone in there, but then it gets soaked in sweat. Toss some energy bars in, but then your pockets sag… Full Story »

  3. Tested: Crank Bros Eggbeater SL Pedals

    Coachlevi.com &bull Jul 11, 2010

My first pair of clipless pedals were a set of cheap Nashbar SPD pedals. I learned on those, and I stuck with Shimano pedals and SPD cleats for many years. The basic Shimano pedal (515, 520, etc.) was always pretty good to me. Not great, but usable since I was on a tight budget. I got used to them packing with mud all the time. That was not always a huge hassle, but it sure was during a race! Having to stop and slap my feet off the pedals to try to knock mud out of my cleats was very… Full Story »

When I first started mountain bike racing, I'd throw my bike in the back of a pickup truck to transport it to races. Then I got a Jeep, and as long as the back seat was down, I could do the same thing. But… Full Story »

    Coachlevi.com &bull Jun 22, 2010

If you have ever heard of Chi Running, Pose Running, or the whole 'barefoot running' movement, you may have looked at your options for minimalist running shoes. Other shoes were rather expensive and/or hard to find, but I was able to find these in my size (11.5 for Saucony) on eBay for $33 (including… Full Story »

  10. Tested: Ned Overend's Performance Mountain Biking Video

    Coachlevi.com &bull Jun 21, 2010

Anyway, this is a video hosted by mountain bike legend Ned Overend, to teach you how to ride a variety of terrain with control and confidence. It's rather old (1996,) but it helped me so much, I had to write about it. And think about it - basic riding skills don't change, so this is a timeless classic to check out. The list sounds comprehensive, and it is.… Full Story »
